Three things convinced me to look for a wedding planner: One, I had no idea what I was doing and needed someone with the expertise to plan a wedding; Two, I’m terribly busy with work and wanted someone who would keep me on schedule and consider my wedding as important as I did; and three, I wanted my wedding to be a wonderfully unique event that was a reflection of the creativity and details that I love.

After we decided to host our wedding in southern Maine, I started looking for planners in the Portland area. Emily Elizabeth Events’ website was full of gushing reviews and a portfolio of events that were absolutely breathtaking. I immediately identified with her style; a charming, elegant, purist eye for details and an incredible ability to create a fluid motif throughout an event. During our first phone call, I was so thrilled to introduce my vision for our wedding to Emily. She was so easy to talk to, unquestionably professional, and it was clear that she shared my vision for our wedding too.

Over the course of 14 months, we were in weekly (sometimes more frequent) contact with each other. She laid out a timeline and kept me on track, organized a running ledger based on my budget, and would help me select vendors from the area. She was ALWAYS available by email or phone, which was evident by several of her immediate replies to my many late-night questions. I cannot stress enough how amazingly organized she is and how much of a blessing that is while you are planning a wedding! She built me an A-team for my photographer, caterer, hair and makeup designer, rentals, and florist. Her end-product was stunning. The day before my event, she was with me all day, helping to organize items/rentals and running through the next day’s schedule with the whole family. The day of, she was there bright and early setting up the ceremony and attending individually to each loose-end, making sure nothing was overlooked. During the wedding day, I kept hearing over and over that my wedding was the most beautiful and most unique wedding any of my guests had ever attended. This is precisely why I chose EEE.

Why you should choose EEE for your next event: My favorite memory of Emily was watching her run around in her wellies, the morning of my outdoor farmhouse ceremony, toweling off benches after a brisk morning rain and raking leaves to spread them around the event. I wanted to thank you for facilitating an amazing wedding weekend! As Kate must have told you, I had misgivings about the venue and all the moving parts needed to coordinate an event from such a raw space. Having done quite a few large events for non-profits I knew the amount of planning, work, coordination and vision it would take. That being said, you complemented my daughters vision of her wedding so beautifully and successfully executed a remarkable event. From your choice of vendors for food, lighting, flowers and hard and soft goods – you were spot on! I witnessed a soft-spoken but firm professional manner in your dealing with issues that arose and was very impressed. Emily is incredible. Our wedding was truly magical and I wouldn’t have been able to create such an amazing evening without her. Throughout the planning process, Emily was a sounding board, idea generator, mediator, and most importantly, an incredible listener. I simply cannot say enough amazing things about Emily! Emily was our planner for a destination wedding in Kennebunkport for about 100 guests. We didn’t start out looking for a wedding planner – the thought seemed odd to us when we even suggested to each other that we’d get one. I honestly can’t say enough great things about Emily. She is AMAZING. I was blown away by the amount of things she did for our wedding and having all of that in such good hands made me relax and not worry about a thing. We hired Emily Elizabeth Events with the hopes that Emily could take our vision and create something truly special that our family and friends would enjoy. Throughout the planning process she was always prompt with e-mails, calls, and texts. It never felt like she was too busy to take the time to listen to our ideas or make changes. Anytime there was a problem with a vendor she took care of it right away. On the day of the event, Emily was very organized and kept everything in order with the help of her handy timeline. She made sure the vendors were on point and the guests were being attended to and enjoying themselves. I trusted her to do a good job and she really outperformed.

Emily’s professionalism, creative mind, and positive energy is very rare in the business. Our shower was everything we could have dreamed it to be and much more. The feedback we received from guests the day of the event and the following weeks was overwhelming. There were so many compliments ranging from how beautiful the details were to how much fun the guests had and how smoothly the party ran. It was an honor to have been able to work with Emily on such a meaningful event to our family.


Hiring Emily was, hands-down, the best decision my husband and I made while planning our wedding.

With the decor planning, Emily helped us go from a very vague vision–of a casual, rustic-chic orchard wedding—to selecting elements to bring that to life. She asked thoughtful questions, helped us brainstorm, and made tasteful suggestions within our budget. Emily has impeccable taste, and had an uncanny ability to know what I wanted or would like before I did.

All that said, where Emily was most invaluable for us was with day-of coordination, which included creating a detailed timeline for our wedding weekend, a materials list, and drafting ceremony choreography. She also took over logistics communication with our venue manager, caterer, and officiant in the 3-4 weeks preceding the wedding. Wedding vendors, especially in summer, are incredibly busy and, we found, sometimes impatient or not as helpful as we would have liked. Emily handled all of our vendors very gracefully and professionally; she knew what questions to ask, and it was a huge relief to know we didn’t have to worry about all the last-minute details.

Emily made our rehearsal and wedding day go so smoothly, thanks to her detailed timeline (which was shared with all immediate family members and wedding party), coolness under pressure, and incredible grace. All my husband and I had to think about that day was getting married and enjoying our friends and family. I’m so grateful for that. I feel so lucky that we hired her–I have a feeling that in the not-too-distant future, she would have been booked so far in advance that she wouldn’t have been available!
